Jelly Beans

I was remembering some relatives who have passed away and stumbled upon this photo of my Aunt Karen's mother! I believe it is her....I'm trying to figure out how to contact the person who posted it, along with other Cornwall, NY photos, on Picasa, but haven't figured that out yet. I'm going to print it out and send it to Aunt Karen next week.

You never know what you'll find on the web. I believe Peg died in the spring, but I'll have to check on that. I remember going upstate to Cornwall-on-Hudson for her wake. It was the first open casket wake I attended as an adult and it was uncomfortable for me. I remember going up to the casket and kneeling to pray and just staring at her. I knelt there for a while and somebody came up behind me and lifted up and guided me away from the casket. It was almost like I was frozen there.
Aunt Karen had a get together at her house following the wake, and I brought a basket filled with different jelly beans from the specialty candy shop in Patchogue. It's kind of a strange thing to bring, but I didn't really cook then (be quiet) and I just thought it appropriate for spring. Well, Aunt Karen looked shocked when I handed her the basket. I had no idea that Peg's favorite candy was jelly beans. It was good.

Peg was always gentle and kind, took her time to speak and was always smiling; a happy, knowing kind of smile that says "I'm enjoying my life." Me, too Peg.
